F5OS Management Domains

F5OS is the new platform layer software. F5OS is the microservices layer with an underlying Kubernetes framework for management. F5OS manages the system software versions, activates the license, and manages interfaces, VLANs, port groupings, and provisions and launches BIG-IP tenants on the hardware.

F5OS is delivered in two versions. F5OS-C for chassis on VELOS and F5OS-A for appliance on rSeries. Each has its own version numbers but share a common feature set. One of the main differences is that F5OS-C has layers for system controllers and chassis partitions, and F5OS-A has a single layer and does not support partitions.

F5OS-C has 3 Management Domains

F5OS-C has three different points of management via the system controller, the chassis partition, and the tenant.

3-Connect to and Configure Tenant

Connect to and configure each BIG-IP tenant, including additional cluster member addresses (for HA).

F5OS-A has 2 Management Domains

1- Connect to the rSeries Host

Connect to the rSeries host and configure the management IP address and system settings, activate the license, and configure network settings (Port Groups, interfaces, VLANs, and LAGs), provision and configure the tenant.
